French term
boustrophédon
French to English
Law/Patents
Physics
exhaust gas purification
Context:
- L’organe de purification présente une forme générale cylindrique d’étendant entre une première et une seconde surface, l’organe de purification comportant au moins une rainure ménagée sur sa première ou seconde surface, l’élément chauffant s’étendant dans cette rainure.
- La rainure s’étend en boustrophédon sur la première et/ou seconde surface.
I`ve already discovered that this refers to writing in lines that alternate from left to right then right to left.
So, a sort of zig zag.
Any ideas how to translate into something of a technical nature?
TIA Chris.

Note from asker:
Thank you. Does it make any difference if I read your explanation backwards? |
@ Phil. Back and forth indicates its continuing nature. Thank you. |
just had reply from my nephew which you might find of interest. In this context ‘boustrophedon‘ means ‘back and forth’. In writing it means writing a line of text in one direction and then the other. In this context that shape of the groove is reversed. I think it’s used in channels for exhaust gasses to controls the velocity. 4 points will be duly awarded. |
I`ve entered back and forth into glossary. |

Discussion
This one uses 'boustrophedon path' or 'boustrophedon pattern'

These are used quite a bit in robotics papers too, however, many uses of these terms are in papers or patents that appear to have been translated into English.
