French term

onduleur d'induction

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng cable protection
This document contains a set of specifications for electrical equipment.

One specification is that cables running in the zone of influence of a 'onduleur d'induction' are to be protected by various means.

As there are very few references to 'induction' and inverters outside of cooking and heating (certainly not the topic here), could someone say if this particular detail is likely to be miswording by the author?

Apologies for lack of context, as there are limitations on how much I can share.

Chris (et al) This was an urgent proofreading project and I had wanted to check this particular term with the community as it stood out to me. I am always grateful for the encylopaedic knowledge of members like yourself who really know their stuff in these fields, and develop my knowledge every time!

UPS A modern UPS (onduleur) shouldn't generate much in the way of electromagnetic radiation (causing electromagnetic interference), though rapid switching across an inductive load could certainly do so. Wiki mentions the ferroresonant type (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply) though it doesn't say whether or not these are prone to generating EMI. The author may have had one of these units in mind.

induction inverter

The induction inverter is a motor capable of rotating by magnetic induction, avoiding the friction generated by the brushes and thus making less vibrations and less noise.
