français term

antenne palais

français vers anglais Technique / Génie Industrie automobile / voitures et camions
This term is for a round, saucer-shaped aerial or antenna that is fitted in a car. In this application, it's for an in-car navigation system, to receive GPS, GPRS and radio signals. I've even got a photo (which I've uploaded)! I just can't seem to find a suitable term in English, and brain fog is setting in, so your insights would be most welcome.

Here's some context:

L’antenne palais (située coté conducteur) doit être fonctionnelle
L’antenne palais (située coté passager pour les phases 1et 2) doit être fonctionnelle

and then picture captions. Thanks in advance.

Suzie Withers Dec 16, 2020:
I think it might be a typo for "antenne palet", which describes the shape of the receiver (like a puck).

Thanks, Suzie! Really appreciate it. Sometimes these errors are just staring you in the face but you can't see the wood for the trees...!

agree Peter Shortall : Very well worked out! Here's a UK manufacturer's datasheet for one: http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2213166.pdf

Thanks! I enjoy a bit of detective work! :)
agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : It struck me right away too. Thanks to the Palet Breton bsicuits, the form said it all! The endings "-et" and "-ais" are increasingly pronounced as identical although they are pronounced differently. High cringe factor when I hear "du lé" pour "du lait"!

I also thought of the "palet breton" biscuits! I feel hungry now. Thanks, Nikki :)
