Spanish term

Corredor

Spanish to English Other Education / Pedagogy Article for publication - Colombian Spanish
I am translating a scientific article for publication from Colombia.
Along the author's name, it shows the following term "Corredor". Like this:

TITLE
Author name+surname - Corredor
Master in xxxx, University of X, Colombia

I never heard it in this context and doesn't appear in monolingual dictionaries like RAE.

It has to be a local expression, someone from Colombia that can help?

I am guessing it is the author?

Thank you so much!

Nov 27, 2020 10:12: Sergio Kot changed "Level" from "Non-PRO" to "PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (3): philgoddard, neilmac, Sergio Kot

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

philgoddard Nov 27, 2020:
Neilmac You should post an answer.
neilmac Nov 27, 2020:
FWIW I ran a search for "Pablo Corredor" and got over 10,000 hits. And a similar search for "Manuel Corredor" got almost twice as many. Just saying.
philgoddard Nov 26, 2020:
Can't you just Google them? You shouldn't need to write a note to the client.
You used the example of "Lopez-Corredor", and that is a name that exists.
M. Carmen Lozano Arnaldos (asker) Nov 26, 2020:
At first I thought it wouldn't be part of the surname, but now I am considering it. Given the poor quality of the original text I don't discard any more typos.
I will make a comment of this to the client, it is impossible to translate with the little information I have.

Thank you all for the help!! :)
philgoddard Nov 26, 2020:
We could possibly work it out if we knew the author and title, but I'm guessing you're not willing to share that. And yes, as Sergio says, it could be a spacing error.
Sergio Kot Nov 26, 2020:
@Carmen No creo que deba descartarse la posibilidad de que sea un typo, tal como sugiere Phil, a pesar de los espacios. O justamente por ello. Sugiero que hagas una búsqueda en Google utilizando "Corredor" como segundo apellido. Suerte.
M. Carmen Lozano Arnaldos (asker) Nov 26, 2020:
No, for sure it is not their surname.
I wouldn't make sense that it separated spaced out, like (example): Pedro Jimenez López - Corredor
If it was surname would be "López-Corredor" together.
neilmac Nov 26, 2020:
Could be a surname: For example, "José Corredor-Matheos nació en ...." (sometimes academic authors use the surname alone).
M. Carmen Lozano Arnaldos (asker) Nov 26, 2020:
No, it's veterinary science.
I guess it could be a typo like you are saying.
philgoddard Nov 26, 2020:
Coredactor?
Could you email the author?
I assume it's not sports science...

Intermediario/Agente

Corredor

See the discussion entries.

I believe it's part of the author's name, and extra spaces have been added by mistake. You should be able to check this by Googling them.
