English to Japanese Medical Medical (general) MRI brain

MRI brain（脳のMRI検査）の結果報告の文書の中からです。

There are multiple foci of T2 hyperintensity within the cerebral white matter. Many are punctate and discrete. There are larger confluent areas in the parietal lobes extending from the atria to the cortex, but not involving subcortical U fibres.

上記の最後の文が全体的にわかりにくいのですが、まず　larger confluent areas in the parietal lobes　は、どのように訳したら良いでしょうか？
parietal lobes　は「頭頂葉」だとわかりましたが、larger confluent areas　の訳が確認できないので、larger confluent areas in the parietal lobes　をどう表現したら良いかわかりません。
