Continuing my translation of a text about ELISA tests.
"remplissage des plaques aux étapes de coating, saturation, détection et révélation."
I had translated the first instance, above, as "reading". However, now I have come across this:
"La température et la durée de la révélation"
It seems to me that a reading can't have a temperature or duration, so my translation in the first instance must have been wrong.

color development
ELISA is based on a chemiluminescent reaction catalyzed by the linked enzyme which processes the substrate to produce a detectable signal in the form of color development (usually yellow). This coloration is what's being detected, but since it's an enzymatic reaction, it is time- and temperature-dependent. So if the reaction is run at a lower temperature, color development will take longer, but if the reaction is allowed to run for too long, it will saturate the signal and affect quantification.

Discussion
"Substrate is catalysed by enzyme to generate coloured readout"
So I think it's a process that enables a final reading, and that process would have a temperature and duration
