Grazie
It was a joyless childhood,' Zhirinovsky remembered. 'I was the youngest, I was in everyone's way.' The family of seven shared a single room in a communal apartment, where he slept on top of a trunk. The childhood memories that he logged in bitter detail included envy of a little girl who had a ballpoint pen when he did not, and children who lived in apartments with hot water. 'In my apartment there were no children's books, no toys, no papers, no telephone ... I was always hungry.' Many people throughout the Soviet Union lived in similar conditions of deprivation during this period, but Zhirinovsky chose to blame the Kazakhs for his family's plight.
