No sign of dévoluer ins the previous ProZ answers, though that's the commonest term I've seen in the context.

Thanks and merci. I forgot to delete the 'e' (unless la succession), and thought the ending might be 's' for property if to agree with a translation as les biens..// D'accord - hope you 'enjoyed' the anecdote, soit 'l'histoire de Gare St. Lazare'

: What's with the "alors"? Also, "dévoluer" doesn't exist, and in your translation it should be "dévolus," not -ue or -u. Masculine because "bien," plural because "bien... ou intérêt" and see link: http://bdl.oqlf.gouv.qc.ca/bdl/gabarit_bdl.asp?id=1460

I think I'll rely on native French speakers and not any comments motivated by personal animosity https://dictionary.reverso.net/french-english/dévoluer post the anodyne answer of transmettre if you are so minded.

Finding 1 or 2 websites that use "dévoluer" as a verb does not somehow prove that French dictionaries are wrong.
