French term

solution de confort adaptable

French to English Medical Medical: Health Care Wheelchairs
This is about deciding on the suitability of a particular wheelchair solution for each user.

"Un Médecin de MPR (Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation), assisté par un ergothérapeute, un kinésithérapeute, évaluera la pertinence de la solution de confort adaptable eu égard à la pathologie"

Discussion

Yvonne Gallagher Nov 22, 2019:
@ Asker surely "adaptable" means "customisable" (to individual users) here or am I missing something?
Cyril Tollari Nov 19, 2019:
@Asker The French is not great either, needs a lot of rewording then
SafeTex Nov 19, 2019:
@ BD FInch and all I've seen your note to me about "ergonomic". I think we agree that the French formulation is not super (literally: "adaptable solution of comfort") and ergonomic is much nicer and better suited.

But it's also true that the French does not use this word (ergonomique), leaving us in a conundrum :)

@Cyril Thanks Cyril. Unfortunately, that doesn't read well in English.
Cyril Tollari Nov 18, 2019:
I don't qualify :-( so I'll put my answer in the discussion:
to assess the adaptivity of the comfort solution in relation to conditions.
B D Finch (asker) Nov 18, 2019:
Extra info I should have mentioned that this is specifically about the installation of an electric motor and its controls. Though it's not directly about the seat, it is, I suppose, possible that the seat itself could need adjustment because of the physical movements required to manage the motor and its controls.

suitably user-friendly solution

I was going to say "comfortable", but your extra context implies that it means convenient or easy to use.

For "évaluera la pertinence de", you could say "will identify a".

appropriate palliative solution

If the purpose is the alleviation of pain or for general comfort, I would suggest "palliative" for "confort".

--------------------------------------------------

Update with the extra info in the discussion: The "de confort" could also refer to the control system of the wheelchair (anti-bump/tilt control, navigation etc.), i.e. the control system guaranteeing a smooth ride & correct navigation.

Perhaps "appropriate wheelchair control solution" or "wheelchair control solution appropriate to the patient condition" would work, if this is indeed the correct interpretation.

Dans ces modes, les amortisseurs sont automatiquement serrés pour un style de conduite plus sportif." (https://www.bmw-tahiti.com/fr/all-models/x-series/X3/2014/dr...
Note from asker:
Thanks Gareth. However, I'm not sure you can use "palliative" for general comfort and pain would not be a factor in all cases.

adaptable ergonomic design/solution

This would be my translation.
Note from asker:
Thanks. Not sure whether "ergonomic" is over-translation, even if it is what they meant. Shall think about it.
