Discussion

Molly Howell Dec 27, 2019:
I know I am coming very late to this discussion (I recently joined ProZ) but I had to say something because the translation is not correct. This phrase does not need to be translated word for word. In English, this would be known as a simple "investment account." If you hold any kind of financial instrument on an account it is automatically considered an asset (as well as an investment), so you don't need to state that. It is implied in the term "investment account."
Please note that there is a HUGE difference between an investment instrument (the more commonly used collocate would be "financial instrument") and an investment tool. They are NOT synonyms. A financial (investment) instrument is any kind of financial investment that can take physical or non-physical form and includes things such as stocks, bonds, options, futures, credit default swaps, total return swaps, pass-thru notes, forward rate agreements, etc. An investment tool is something that helps you decide on your investment strategy or monitor the performance of your investment. This would include things like a financial model, an algorithm, a sensitivity analysis, any macro/micro strategy report, etc.

investment instruments asset account

(investment tools asset account nebo asset account of investment tools etc. )

Investment account

This does not need a word-for-word translation because the asset part is implied. Moreover, "investment account" is the accepted collocate in the field. It is a broad term that covers any account where investments are held (or recorded for non-physical assets.) Note: Investing means putting money into any financial instrument. It does not necessarily mean investing directly into a company, i.e. taking an equity stake.
