Affranchissez vos clients des préoccupations de l’entretien

Non-PRO French to English Marketing Automotive / Cars & Trucks Remote vehicle maintenance service guide
Hello. This is from an internal guide for dealerships of a major French car manufacturer. The guide is about how to use the latest version of their remote vehicle maintenance service, which involves a car (or fleet of cars) connecting to their servers over the internet, and reporting any alerts triggered by the car in real time, which then prompts someone from their call centre to phone the person to arrange an appointment at their nearest garage to have it fixed.

I’ve reworded it umpteen times but just cannot come up with anything I’m happy with, so would love to hear your suggestions.

The phrase appears on the opening page of the guide, as follows:

“TELEMAINTENANCE
VOTRE MÉMO
Affranchissez vos clients des préoccupations de l’entretien, ils vont apprécier !”

Sep 30, 2019 07:53: writeaway changed "Field" from "Bus/Financial" to "Marketing"

Sep 30, 2019 14:32: Sandra & Kenneth Grossman changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Nikki Scott-Despaigne, Rachel Fell, Sandra & Kenneth Grossman

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

James A. Walsh (asker) Oct 1, 2019:
The final translation approved by the company was: "Take the hassle out of maintenance for your customers — they’ll thank you for it!"
Cyril Tollari Oct 1, 2019:
@ Asker
I think Elizabeth should have it.
SafeTex Oct 1, 2019:
@ Elizabeth That is a very good decision :)
James A. Walsh (asker) Oct 1, 2019:
@Elizabeth Tamblin RE: the suggestion you made in your comment to Cyril ("take the hassle out of maintenance for your customers").
Please post this as an answer and I will happily award you the points, as this is the translation I used, and you suggested it first!

Take the hassle out of maintenance for your clients

Maybe a slighter slicker version?

French term (edited): affranchir quelqu'un de quelque chose

to free someone from something

I'm certina this is the general meaning.
I'm leaving you to do the phrase it in accordance with whatever style and register that flows from your keyboard.

The idea is that the clients will appreciate no longer having to worry about maintenance. It is all taken care of. You probably need a snappy rehash of anything that will get that across.

Take the third rendering from here, for example: https://www.larousse.fr/dictionnaires/francais/affranchir/15...

"Libérer quelqu'un d'une contrainte : Tous ces appareils ont partiellement affranchi la femme des soins du ménage."
Note from asker:
I'm not sure this even qualifies as an "answer" Nikki? I didn't ask for a definition of this sense of "affranchir" — I'm perfectly aware of this meaning already, thanks! I asked for suggestions for: "Affranchissez vos clients des préoccupations de l’entretien," which this apparent "answer" does not provide for...

agree writeaway : I also assumed that the meaning of affranchir was the problem. Translating marketing phrases is often tricky.

Or relieve your customers from having to worry about maintenance

Thank you.
neutral SafeTex : Sounds like you don't have to have any maintenance to me (the suggestion that was posted, not the second one)

Same in French. Could be understood both ways, but there's a context here.
agree Elizabeth Tamblin : Or "take the hassle out of maintenance for your customers".

Set your customers' minds at rest regarding maintenance...

Or
At ease
As regards maintainance

More informal
Free your customers from maintenance worries/ concerns (and they'll really appreciate it)

Or restructure
Your customers will/would really appreciate not having to worry about maintenance
Your customers would be delighted if maintenance worries were renoved

Free your customers from worries about timely maintenance

the point of the message is

help them make sure the maintenance is done in due time, as soon as a fault starts developing

as opposed to

doing [usually] the maintenance when it can't be delayed any longer / the fault has become all too obvious and costs far more to fix, as it got far worse.

THAT is the kind of difference a fleet manager will surely appreciate - and is the key point.

No worries with remote (vehicle) diagnostics

Hello
This is what the system is more or less called if you check it out on Google. I've simply taken out "maintenance" as I don't feel it is needed. It is the remote diagnostic system that frees you from worries, the maintenance is still needed of course and you still have to take your car in for a check/repairs and worry about the bill !!!

After Daryo's "neutral" comment, this should be:

"No worries about customers with remote (vehicle) diagnostics"

Peer comment(s):

neutral Daryo : that could be at best a message to fleet owners, NOT to dealers

Ooops. How about "No worries about customres with remote (vehicle) diagnostics"
