French term

hors plages horaires

French to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping Delivery refusal of serviced TGV gearboxes
I'm not sure I understand the whole phrase in the context:

Discussion

Lorraine Dubuc Jul 26, 2019:
How about 'outside opening hours (mentioned on purchase order)' ? As simple as that.
claude-andrew (asker) Jul 26, 2019:
Of course! Silly me, must be the heat (40°)
polyglot45 Jul 26, 2019:
it clearly means outside the delivery hours and days shown on the order
Radu DANAILA Jul 26, 2019:
Refusal of acceptance of goods ... ... and the last of the possible reasons (to be checked on the form) is the fact that the delivery could not be accepted since it happened during unscheduled delivery hours (or out of time slots, or out of service hours, or out of time frames) indicated on the delivery note.
This is how I see it in this context.

quite simply.

I agree with Tony that "slot" seems more restrictive feel and opening hours may not tally with actual delivery times.

delivery slot

Delivery slots are common in all sorts of industries now to avoid queues of lorries waiting to unload. A delivery slot is a brief interval in which the delivery has to be made e.g. 11.00 - 11.15 am. For reference see Collins Robert "plage". page 710 in my edition.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : That's not entirely the case here, really... it doesn't mention any specific 'créneau', but rather, in effect, opening times and days — I think this 'plage' is less restrictive than a 'narrow slot' (and also probably not individual).

outside opening hours

La plage horaire et jours mentionnés sur le bon de commande sont en fait les heures d'ouverture permettant la réception des livraisons.

Merci, philgoddard!
disagree Tony M : No, because in some cases, the delivery reception window will be narrower than the 'opening hours', while in others, they may e.g. accept deliveries early in the morning, before they are actually open. Yes, but you need to be explicit!

Oh come on, Tony, we are talking about the delivery reception opening hours, of course. 'Hors plages horaires et jours de livraisons figurant sur bon de commande' where do you see anything else specified?
