German term

Verarbeitungsdaten

German to English Law/Patents Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs europäisches Führungszeugnis
Diese sogenannten "Verarbeitungsdaten" bestehen eigentlich aus einer gleichen oder zumindest ähnlichen Zahlen- und Buchstabenfolge wie bei früheren deutschen Führungszeugnisse das Aktenzeichen. Wie würdest Ihr denn "Verarbeitungsdaten" hier übersetzen? Vielen Dank für Eure Hilfe und Vorschläge und herzliche Grüße

Discussion

Thank you, Ramey, good idea - up to now, my take has been "inquiry number". Have a nice day and thank you, Birgitt
Ramey Rieger (X) Jul 9, 2019:
processing code might work.

Thanks to all helpful colleagues I just wondered whether there is indeed a more literal translation since it's now really called "Verarbeitungsdaten" and no longer "Aktenzeichen" ...

Inquiry

Although I'd personally be tempted to translate 'Verarbeitungsdaten' more literally, 'inquiry' looks to be the term used in the relevant line of the 'official' English-language proforma of the European Criminal Record Certificate:

processing ID

A more literal rendering. Pretty similar to Ramey Rieger's note.

I prefer something like "code" or "ID" to "number" if it involves a mixture of numbers and letters.
