Spanish term

ATE

Spanish to English Other Slang possible abbreviation
From a police report, victim is reporting what was said to him:
"contrario date por muerto hijodeputa. ate. chinga tu madre."

What does "ate" mean in this context?

Country: Guatemala

atte./attentively

Una manera sarcástica de poner un mensaje como amenaza: ate./atentamente.

I think it is a sarcastic way to close a vindicative message:atte./attentively. Truly yours. Sincerly.
Peer comment(s):

agree Robert Carter : I think you're right, although it took both my wife and my daughter to convince me that someone would use this in spoken speech (myself, I've never heard someone use it like that).

Gracias Robert!
disagree JohnMcDove : No, I doubt it very much. It would not match with the overall register. /(And since there are no answer to my query, I have to disagree, instead of my original "neutral".) If there is some data I might be missing I am willing to change my viewpoint.

Spanish term (edited): Date (date el piro, vete)

go / get out / get away

En el contexto probablemente sea "date" (largo, vete) -o bien un typo por otro insulto original... También puedes leerlo, en función del contexto más amplio, como una fórmula final, con la idea de andando, venga, ala, vale ya.

milksop / sissy / coward

This is a "uneducated" guess, in the sense that it could be a slang usage of "aguacate", abbreviated to "ate".

Particularly after calling him "son of a bitch"

Saludos cordiales.

The other possibility is "cuate" as in "man" "dude" "bud" "buddy"
