PS security deposit is - AFAIK - AmE and, in UK conveyancing and landlord & tenant practic/se, I have never come across the term - mea culpa!
Rental deposits are paid at the initiation of a rental and are charged in both residential and commercial rentals. The most common amount charged for a rental deposit is the amount equal to 1 month's rent.
Every state within the United States allows a landlord to collect a security deposit from a tenant. The maximum amount of security you can collect depends on the location of your rental property.
Thanks for your help, Adrian! There should be an option to give points to more than one answerer! |

: "Rental deposits" is right for the UK as I recall. My US English is gradually usurping my British English it seems.
