Well, in the financial industry this is called to follow a company, to cover a company or to have a company under coverage.

That brokerage firms undertake this sort of service is not under discussion. See Economist Espresso entry today concerning the corporate law case of Varjabedian v Emulex. There must be a more precise term for providing this kind of service than to simply say the firm is "following" a company's financials.

We are talking about companies followed by investements banks/brokerage firms, where the latter *otorga una recomendación de inversión y un precio objetivo de la acción* i.e. gives buy and sell recomendations and target prices for their stock.
This is what reseach analysts in investment banks do.
