Glass engraving
I am looking for the correct translation of "Spicken" when used as a glass engraving technique. The only text I have is:
Spicken: Für geschwungene, halbrunde Linien wird der Gravurstift mit leichtem Druck angesetzt und seitwärts weggezogen.
I can find no reference to an appropriate term with the searches I have made.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I found this helpful:
Shading:
"Apply the diamond point with light pressure and pull away to the side to give the line a faded look."

I understand incision as also including straight lines. I don't know about Spicken.
