Discussion

Tony M Jan 29, 2019:
@ Asker There is an ambiguity in EN here that your wider context may well be able to clarify: because one noun qualifying another stays in the singular, we have no way of telling here if this is 'the layout of the risers for each individual service' OR 'the layout of the services that are all run together in one riser' — typically, a 'tremie / gaine technique'.

I had originally pictured the latter, but then you added context with dry risers etc. tends to favour the former. Either way, one could be referring to 'the layout of the different services withon a single riser' OR 'the layout of all the various risers'.

Note that in some not-unrelated technical contexts 'layout' is often rendered by 'implantation'.

je rencontre maintenant dry/wet risers qui me confirme colonnes sèches/colonnes humides donc parfait... d'autres questions suivront ! Merci

cela correspond à la seule chose que j'étais en mesure de m'imaginer parlant d'un bâtiment...

assumption based on my translating the term before.
More context would be interesting
Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : Though possibly 'implantation', if they are (as I'd logically expect) talking about the way the services are laid out WITHIN the riser. But if they are talking about individual risers for each service, then that changes things;

neutral B D Finch : Important to note that the use of the singular form in English is because "service riser" is used adjectivally, not because it is a single service riser.
