French term

xxxxxx La glisse au long cours

French to English Marketing Ships, Sailing, Maritime antifouling treatment
Context: Advertising blurb mainly technical concerning surface treatment etc of boat hulls, surfboards, snowboards etc.
Snappy adverts not really my choice so any suggestions most welcome for this opening line. XXXX is product name.
TIA Chris.

Bashiqa (asker) Dec 6, 2018:
@ Nikki Windsurf, snowboards, boats, yachts, racers. Surface treatment is mixture of copper and resin.
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Dec 5, 2018:
@Bashiqa Hihi, I know. What type of surface treatment is this about? Probably not about AF for snowboards, a "detail" that I overlooked!
Bashiqa (asker) Dec 5, 2018:
@ Nikki The anti-fouling goes on top of the gel coat.
Carol Gullidge Dec 5, 2018:
@ nikki If your hull is smothered in barnacles, you’ll get a pretty rough ride regardless :))
Nikki Scott-Despaigne Dec 5, 2018:
Is it anti-fouling or is it gelcoat?
Bashiqa (asker) Dec 5, 2018:
@ Phil Tricky because it started by talking about windsurfing then continued with painting the hull of boats; speedboats, yachts and all the other types with only slight mention of boards. Think Carol`s suggestion is closest.
philgoddard Dec 5, 2018:
This is tricky without seeing the copy, and you should really be ignoring the French, which doesn't translate easily, and producing a headline that sums up the ad.
Would "We're in it for the long haul" fit your context?

A little clunky I know, but, afaik, we Brits have no single term (like "glisse") that encompasses both snow sports (snowboarding) and water sports (sailing, surfing, etc.).
This is a marketing term, so requires a certain amount of brainstorming rather than direct translation, and is normally best left to the translator and/or the outsourcer's marketing team, but I couldn't resist chiming in here ...
Note from asker:
Thanks for this. I can make the suggestion and leave client to finalise.

many thanks, Louise!
agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : I like "smooth ride". Howabout "that goes the distance" tagged on? Might be a bit long, but it gets the "long cours" idea in. Like you say, whatever pleases the marketing team.

Many thanks, Nikki! Yes, "goes the distance" and many other synonymous expressions would get the message across :)

(For) a smooth solution all the way

For some of the snow sports: taking pride in your slide?

Watertight might work as well as it covers all water-related surfaces e.g. XXXX - Your Watertight Solutions

At least this gets me back on track, thank you.
