Hilfe mit Satz bitte

English to German Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation Batterien
"The type of Lithium battery we use in our portable devices are non-rechargeable or dry primary battery that contains no lead, mercury or cadmium. "

Das Englisch ist furchtbar, aber mir fehlt auch technisches Wissen, um es zu interpretieren, kann mir jemand bitte helfen? Was ist die Batterie? Nicht aufladbar, aber auch "trocken"?

Kein Problem Die Antwort taugte sowieso nichts :-)

Regina The answer pane has disappeared on my screen. Sorry, I hadn't seen your comment.
Yorkshireman Oct 12, 2018:
BTW Don't let yourself get sidetracked by dry or wet cells - wet cells just don't come into the equation at all. In fact, at a pinch, you could leave out the "dry"
Regina Eichstaedter Oct 12, 2018:
Danke Yorkshireman, ich habe wieder etwas gelernt!
Yorkshireman Oct 11, 2018:
Clarification A primary cell is a battery that is designed to be used once and discarded, and not recharged with electricity and reused like a secondary cell (rechargeable battery). In general, the electrochemical reaction occurring in the cell is not reversible, rendering the cell unrechargeable.

The lithium battery mentioned here is described twice (doppelt-gemoppelt) - it is namely a dry primary cell (by definition a non-rechargeable, single-use battery or cell) with the extra, perhaps unnecessary, confirmation that it is non-rechargeable.
Yorkshireman Oct 11, 2018:
Meaning of "or" either scrap the "or" or add "also known as" - or the much overused "sogenannte / so-called" if you think it's necessary - which I don't
Regina Eichstaedter Oct 11, 2018:
oder "das heißt" - wie unten vorgeschlagen
Birgit Gläser Oct 11, 2018:
@Regina Das "or" wird in diesem Fall mit "beziehungsweise" übersetzt :-)
Elke Fehling (asker) Oct 11, 2018:
Danke schön, ja, das hilft.
Rolf Keller Oct 11, 2018:
… sind nicht wiederaufladbar und enthalten weder Flüssigkeit noch Blei, Quecksilber oder Kadmium.
Yorkshireman Oct 11, 2018:
Dry cells/primary cells Does this help?

The lithium batteries installed in our devices are non-rechargeable dry primary cells and contain no lead, mercury or cadmium.

Proposed translations

1 day 1 hr

...enthalten nicht wiederaufladbare Lithium-Batterien.

Aufsplitten!

(...Mobilgeräte bla, bla, bla)...enthalten nicht wiederaufladbare Lithium-Batterien.
.. Diese Primärzellen sind garantiert Blei-, Quecksilber- und Cadmium-frei.

"Garantiert" is there to make it a little more "werblich"
Peer comment(s):

neutral Anna Augustin : I would cut the "Garantiert", though. If the company doesn't actually guarantee it, you shouldn't say so in the translation imho.

Is this an agreement with the exception of garantiert? - if so, then a neutral rating would be more appropriate

"Nicht wiederaufladbar" und "Trockenbatterien"

Ich würde näher beim Original bleiben (auch, wenn es etwas holprig ist).

"Bei den Lithium-Batterien in unseren Mobilgeräten handelt es sich um nicht wiederaufladbare Batterien oder um blei-, quecksilber- oder cadmiumfreie Trockenbatterien."

Trockenbatterien sind eine bestimmte Art Batterie. Außerdem wichtig: Es ist bleifrei und nicht Bleifrei.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Yorkshireman : The problem here is that "oder" does not come into the equation. As someone already mentioned, a "bzw." would fit the bill. The actual batteries are being described in two different ways, both of which mean the same. See discussion 23:32 Oct 11

The discussion was hidden, yes, bzw. is even better indeed :)
