Spanish term

200 B/mcI en SP

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Chemotherapy
This is taken from a medical report on treatment of a patient with t-cell lymphoblastic cancer, after induction to therapy and assessing the response to treatment:

• Dia +8: 200 ***B/mcI en SP **** (buena respuesta).
• Día+ 14: Mielograma en remisión citomorfológica (1% células inmaduras). EMR en MO: 0.18%.
• Día +33: Mielograma en remisión citomorfológica. EMR en MO

It is a Spanish hospital.

Thanks!

@ Stuart and Aida. Thanks for your help and research! I later discovered the text had been extracted from a pdf file, hence it is quite clearly a typo.
Chema Nieto Castañón Sep 23, 2018:
Perfecto tu enlace último en respuesta, Aida. Cito textualmente:
Stuart and Aida Nelson Sep 23, 2018:
Blast cells Continuing with my research I have found out that the problem with this type of cancer, which is a type of leukaemia, is the excessive proliferation of blast cells and the treatment involves trying to reduce their number. In this case, I understand that this section of the report is part of the results after induction to therapy. 200 mcL of blast cells per microliter of peripheral blood were found on the 8th day. See example entry in my answer for comparison: 'Absolute blast count (ABC) >200/μl in PB by day 15 assessed by flow cytometry'
Stuart and Aida Nelson Sep 23, 2018:
@ David @ Chema As recorded in my answer I would then suggest: **200 B/mcL of PB**. The physician would then understand what this is about and doctors love to use abbreviations :).

Stuart and Aida Nelson Sep 21, 2018:
@ Anne - basophils or blast cells This is what I found in the link posted in my answer for basophils:

'Basophils account for less than three percent of your white blood cells. You should have 0 to 300 basophils per microliter of blood'

The question says ' 200 B' so I assumed that because you should have 0 to 300 basophils per per microliter of blood, this refers to basophils.

However, you as a doctor know more :). Are blast cells also measured in this way?
Stuart and Aida Nelson Sep 21, 2018:
@ David - mcI error tipográfico Me costó!!
Stuart and Aida Nelson Sep 21, 2018:
SP @ David Tienes razón tiene que ser sangre periférica = peripheral blood
David Russell (asker) Sep 21, 2018:
Gracias, pero tristemente lo había mirado ya. SP es "sangre periférica".
Stuart and Aida Nelson Sep 21, 2018:
@ David Soy tan buena y te paso uno de mis secretos :) Espero que te ayude. No siempre encuentras todo pero muchas veces ayuda.

Peripheral blood cells are the cellular components of blood, consisting of red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leucocytes), and platelets, which are found within the circulating pool of blood and not sequestered within the lymphatic system, spleen, liver, or bone marrow.[1]

What’s the normal range for basophils?
Basophils account for less than three percent of your white blood cells. You should have 0 to 300 basophils per microliter of blood. Keep in mind that blood test normal ranges can vary from lab to lab.

Prognostic value of persistent peripheral blood and bone marrow lymphoblasts on day 15 of therapy in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia as detected by flow cytometry.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
Peripheral blood (PB) and bone marrow were assessed for leukemia cells by morphology and flow cytometry
RESULTS:
Absolute blast count (ABC) >200/μl in PB by day 15 assessed by flow cytometry predicted a lower probability of disease free survival

agree Anne Schulz : Agree with microliter, B could be blasts/blast cells in T-cell lympho*blastic* cancer
