Swedish term
linjestyrning

Management
This term is simply mentioned and not elaborated upon in a document related to managing employees and the work environment. The sentence in question reads: "På samma sätt kan det finnas svårigheter med samarbete och koordinering mellan olika verksamheter i samma organisation, särskilt då det är en starkare linjestyrning."
As far as I can gather, this is a term/concept used in New Public Management referring to a management style with set lines of communication/management.

Line management

You're on the right track. As far as I am aware,"linjestyrning" refers to an organisation that is structured strictly according to a traditional, hierarchical organisation chart where there is one boss at the top, under him/her the second level of management, under each of them, a third level, and so on down to those who have no managerial duties. There are only no multi-departmental teams, projects or similar in such an organisation, all management follows the lines from the top downwards, thus the name.

Business organisational structure - flat versus hierarchical
Flat and hierarchical organisational structures
Organisational structures define a hierarchy within an organisation. Two most common arrangements include: a flat structure and a hierarchical organisational structure. Each structure has its advantages and disadvantages. The most appropriate arrangement will depend on the size and type of your business, and the number of management levels that you need.
