Unidades de mérito

español al inglés Otros Educación / Pedagogía Translation of a Salvadoran transcript
I am translating a transcript from Salvador, and I found two confusing terms. On one side, "Unidades de mérito" (just that) and on the other side "Coeficiente de Unidades de Mérito (CUM)", which in different threads I have found that is translated as GPA. But,
what about just "Unidades de mérito"? Thanks for a prompt response!
Proposed translations (inglés)

You say merit units - isn't that the obvious translation?
Patricia Carreira Payne (asker) Jun 7, 2018:
I really appreciate your effort, but I don't think it's so easy. While the general grades or the CUM have numbers as 4.0, 6.3, etc., the "famous" Merit Units has a value of 1,190.3, so, it has to stand for another thing.

GPA stands for Grade Point average, therefore I assume unidades de mérito can be translated as grades or grade points.

Possible reference...

I'm not sure which university you are dealing with, but if it happens to be Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas de El Salvador, this might be a helpful link. No English, but at least it explains a bit of what's going on with the terms used.
Note from asker:
Thank you so much for your interest, in fact, I found up what the issue was about and decided to add it at the end as a translator's note.Anyway, thank you very much, again!
