Niedrożność tętnicy środkowej siatkówki charakteryzuje
się nagłą, bezbolesną, całkowitą, jednooczną
utratą widzenia. U większości pacjentów (ok. 90%)
upośledzenie widzenia jest znaczne (,,liczą palce” lub
posiadają jedynie „poczucie światła”) [7]. Wyniki badań
wziernikowych dna oka wykazują zwolniony przepływ
krwi przez zwężone tętnice i żyły, z segmentacją słupa
krwi.
