Reminding my colleagues about Christine's context: hydrogen-cooled gas generators.
Background:
Hydrogen gas is usually used as a coolant in power generators because of its molecular properties. It has excellent conductivity and viscosity that make it superior to air and water. The main problems inside generator casings are:
1) maintaining hydrogen purity
2) getting rid of moisture
Seal oil is used to provide a hermetic seal inside the casing. The problem is it entrains air from the atmosphere and this air eventually leaks into the generator, thus reducing the purity of the hydrogen coolant.
A scavenging system is used to get rid of this air-contaminated hydrogen. This involves purges and valves releasing the gas to atmosphere.
So the hydrogen coolant then needs to be replenished. This is the role of the H2 replenishment system.
The /schleus/ in the German root (as many German technical words) simply describes the manner at which the hydrogen is charged into the system (like a sluice/Schleuse in nautical locks). Any translation that has any nautical connotation should be avoided. Repressurization is also involved (the replenished H2 needs to at the same H2 pressure inside the casing) but this is not the main function. The main job is replenishment.

I'm not sure about the literal meaning. Perhaps you can use "purge," "discharge" or "control."

A purging control valves assembly (Figure 5andFigure 6) is used to control the purging operations.
The assembly consists of several control valves, a three-way valve (SV-1), an air test connection, a
connection for checking purging gas purity (57), removable spool pieces (“A”) and (“B”), a vent
solenoid valve (20GK-1) and a carbon dioxide solenoid valve (20PM-1). The spool pieces can be
removed to isolate the generator and its piping from the hydrogen and carbon dioxide supplies. The
vent and carbon dioxide solenoid valves are normally open, latched closed valves which are used to
vent hydrogen and supply carbon dioxide during an automatic purge cycle.
