variations on jam
Context: an article about upmarket jams.
Does anyone know what "spécialités de fruits" is and how it's different from jam? I don't think I've ever eaten that here in France and I'm not sure if we have an equivalent product in the UK/US.
Thanks for your help!

preserved fruits
It's difficult to separate them all in the same way in English, but I think this would apply here. It's the most "unadulterated" recipe, with fruits being left whole or in large chunks. Kilner give a good comparison:

Oops, sorry, I can't change the answer but it needs to be "fruit preserve". Preserved fruits would point to very sweet, crystallised fruit.

: Yes, sounds right to me - though preserved fruits would also cover 'confits'

Thanks. I realised seconds after submitting the answer :). I've amended it to "fruit preserve".

: Why preserve(d)? That's not what the French says.

I'm not with you there, Phil. Can you explain?

: Maybe it's different by you; I've only seen preserves with fruit. Looking at the other terms in the series, I have to un-agree.

Thanks, but I do think it's important to specify that there's a fruit content. Nuts and veg are also possible, I believe.

Thanks, Yolanda. Yes, I suppose it should be the plural, as in the source term
