Change log

Feb 9, 2017 12:30: Rob Grayson changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (1): Drmanu49

Non-PRO (3): writeaway, Jennifer White, Rob Grayson

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Nathalie Stewart Feb 9, 2017:
Jennifer Doesn't work for me - I am looking here and searching for "chef de clinique" in Fr>En, is that wrong? http://www.proz.com/?sp=kog_glossary
Jennifer White Feb 9, 2017:
Nathalie Lots of glossary entries - too many to list
writeaway Feb 9, 2017:
A basic Fr-En dictionary would also be helpful. You may have to look up chef and clinique separately but the solution would become clear.
IAN TAIT (asker) Feb 9, 2017:
I want to make sure the term I use is the American term.
In the glossaries, it is difficult to find EN (US)
Nathalie Stewart Feb 9, 2017:
Not in KOG Nothing found here:

Jennifer White Feb 9, 2017:
Have you tried the glossary? Many examples there.

disagree Drmanu49 : No chef de clinique is a very specific term. I have looked up Sue's answer and I see no explanation of the French term. She gives another answer and does later in her discussion mention the American equivalents which confirms my answer.
