Estoy traduciendo la carta de un restaurante, y tengo una duda en cuanto a la traducción del término "rebozados" en esta situación. Se trata del título del apartado:

REBOZADOS

-Croquetas
-Tiras de pollo...

Mis propuestas de traducción son las siguientes: "COAT IN BATTER" o "BREADED". ¿Sería correcta alguna de ellas? ¿Qué diferencia hay entre las dos, si es que la hay?

I am assuming the list is longer, probably including fried squid rings, shrimps, etc., coated in batter or breadcrumbs.

Breaded is food dipped in breadcrumbs whereas rebosado means in batter which is made from flour and egg usually.

In my opinion you would have to use "in breadcrumbs/ in batter", and then specify each food item depending on which form used.

First of all, thank you for your answer! Isn't there any word in English that encompasses both food dipped in breadcrumbs and in batter? I should use only one word for it, since it's the title of the section..

agree Carol Gullidge : that is true, and the Asker will need to ascertain which applies in this case. P.S., I think you meant "battered", not "rebosado" (?). But croquettes are more likely to be in breadcrumbs rather than batter

Sorry,spelling mistake. I meant "rebozado" referred more to frying in batter not breadcrumbs

Savory croquettes and fritters

"Rebozados" means both wrapped in batter and covered in breadcrumbs. That means it will be deep or shallow fried food. One idea would be to traslate it as above.

agree Charles Davis : It'll have to be something like this. Rebozado is not just used to mean "battered"; what we call pollo rebozado at home is shallow-fried in breadcrumbs, though strictly that's empanado, I realise. But the croquettes clinch it: who does them in batter?

neutral Lisa McCarthy : I wouldn't use 'fritter' for chicken 'tiras' though. And I think 'savoury' is superfluous, as you don't usually get 'croquettes' for your postre. // I saw the link but fritters are generally flat and not in strips, aren't they?

Deep Fried

Normalmente los rebozados se fríen, por eso creo que "deep fried" incluye tanto los que llevan pan rallado, o harina.
