Desistimiento

This is an interesting blog entry by Rebecca Jowers on deistimiento, which could apply in civil proceedings and refers, in this context, to the claimant withdrawing the suit (as opposed to sobreseimiento, whereby the court imposes a stay of proceedings, etc)

"In other contexts, desistimiento (del demandante) is likewise used in civil procedure to denote the plaintiff’s abandonment of a proceeding before a trial of the issues"
