Arabic term

الفصل النهائي

Arabic to English Law/Patents Law (general)
The following sentence is a field on an self-evaluation form (استمارة التقييم الذاتي) for judges. In other words, judges are asked to write a response in the space below it.

استراتيجية العمل في السنتين المقبلتين، (الفصل النهائي المتوقع خلال السنتين القادمتين وعراقيل تحقيقه، معالجة الملفات المتأخرة) ا

Usually الفصل النهائي in legal contexts would be "final ruling" or "final resolution", but that doesn't fit the context here because we don't seem to be referring to any particular legal case. Any ideas what the term could mean here?

Thanks!

Discussion

Jaus (asker) Nov 6, 2016:
Hi again Chakib. I wish there was more context to add but there really isn't :( Unfortunately, if the term is not clear from just the sentence alone, then the document just isn't clear here.
Chakib Roula Nov 5, 2016:
Hi Jaus,
May be more context will shed some light on the real meaning of the term.
Jaus (asker) Nov 5, 2016:
Hi Chakib. Unfortunately there is no real addition context as this sentence appears as a self-contained question. The judge is given two lines to write a response. (The previous question asks about the number of hours the judge works per week and the next one asks about the skills he has acquired via activities he participates in.)

It may be that the question is simply suggesting that the judge could provide an example of a final ruling he expects to make in an ongoing case, but if that is the intent then I would have expected فصل نهائي, not الفصل النهائي.
Chakib Roula Nov 4, 2016:
@Prozali,
استراتيجية العمل في السنتين المقبلتين this sentence shows that we are talking about a strategy/ phased plan.If the asker adds more context, we will probably understand better.
Chakib Roula Nov 4, 2016:
@Asker,
Would you please add more context as I personally have an idea.

final ruling / resolution/ decision/ determination/ judgment

What you suggested seems to fit the context which seems to relate to achieving certain rulings targets within the next 2 years
Peer comment(s):

neutral Chakib Roula : I am afraid it does not fit here ase we are talking about a plan split into different phases that needs to be achieved in the upcoming two years.Thus,I would rather think of "phase" "step".
