Albanian term

kanosje

Albanian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
What is the difference between "kërcenim" and "kanosje" in this context (Kosova court document):

Përshkrimi i veprimeve inkriminuese nën 1 dhe 2 bëhet në mënyrë të përgjithësuar, përmendet **kërcënimi** me armë por nuk potencohet *kanosja* e cila në këto raste duhet të jetë e drejtpërdrejtë

Could it be that "armë" is mentioned with "kërcënimi", not with "kanosja"?

Yes...that "kërcenim me armë" makes things strange, and inconsistent with use of the two terms elsewhere...
larserik (asker) Jul 10, 2016:
Kosova Interesting, Harold. My text is from Kosova, and it seems that their Criminal Code makes the same distinction:
...1.3. pajtimi i viktimës është marrë me mashtrim, frikësim ose me kërcënim, nëse
mënyrat e tilla nuk përfshijnë përdorimin e forcës, kanosjes serioze ose shfrytëzimin siç
është paraparë në nenin 230 paragrafi 3. të këtij Kodi;
I.e. kanosje more aggressive than kërcenim. It's a pity my author doesn't use this distinction, in my text it's the other way around, since it says "kërcenim me armë". But it's not the only part of this text where things are ambiguous or worse. -- Thanks a lot for the links.

Link Thank you Harold indeed for your note and clear explanation. Could you please add a wordking link to the English translation of the Albanian Penal Code? Thank you.
Harold Lemel Jul 9, 2016:
In the English translation of the Albanian Penal Code Law 7895 of 1995, a subtle distinction is made: kërcënim = intimidation, while kanosje = "threat". Threat has a more immediate and specific sense than intimidation which is more generalized..

Both kanosje and kërcënim are synonims.

Threat in this case
Note from asker:
Allright - I thought so till I got this sentence: "përmendet kërcenimi ... por nuk potencohet kanosja"
