German term
R - ATOM
German to English
Science
Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
1950\'s film
"TOD BEI 600 R - ATOM"
This is a newspaper headline in a film. Unfortunately there is no more context.
Does anyone know what R-Atom translates as? I know it must be to do with radioactivity but I don't quite know how to translate it.

Although the headline doesn't make much sense to me...
...this reference might help. One quote from the page: "A short-term dose of 600 roentgens would probably be fatal,"
The "R" probably refers to roentgens.

Example sentence:
A short-term dose of 600 roentgens would probably be fatal,
Note from asker:
Thank you. This definitely appears to be the right answer. And Wikipedia (the source of all knowledge!) also lists its symbol as R. Would you like to post this as an answer so that I can choose it? |
