Yo me inclino por "pérdida", ya que es el término que se usa en español a nivel financiero para definir un rendimiento negativo de una inversión, es decir, lo que en inglés llaman "underrecovery".
Este concepto se puede ver en el enlace de la wikipedia que pongo más abajo.
Creo que es el término que tienes que traducir, pero en el ámbito de los precios del petróleo.
Espero que sea de ayuda.
