Spanish term

Jornada laboral superior a 48 horas

Spanish to English Social Sciences Economics
This is a category on a chart on informal employment in Argentina.
I understand "jornada laboral" to refer to workday, here maximum legal length of a workday. Of course, there are only 24 hours in a day, so "48 hours" makes no sense... unless there is something I am missing here.
Thanks!

work( )week vs. working week First, this is a category, not running text.
8,710,000 hits for "work week"; 3,460,000 for "workweek" (with definitions); 992,000 for "working week" - being aware that Google hits can often be misleading.
Muriel Vasconcellos Oct 23, 2015:
Context It's hard to answer because we don't know what the other categories are.
Cristina Gonzalez Oct 23, 2015:
They are probably referring to work week...although I have had a few days working as an architect where my work day was longer than 24 hours...

Work week longer than 48 hours

Barring context to the contrary, one would have to assume that it refers to a week rather than a shift. If someone tried to work 48 hours straight, they would have passed out halfway through.

Work shift of more than 48 hours

That would be my interpretation. Another option would be "work session", although my first choice would be as posted.

a 48-hour working week

What you are missing is "semanales":

neutral Muriel Vasconcellos : It's anything *longer than* 48 hours. There's a big difference.

11 hrs

Work shift in excess of 48 hours/work shift of more than 48 hours

Jornada is a working day or shift. A day is 24 hrs. Clearly this refers to a working shift. Sounds more accurate to say a work shift rather than a work day. Jornada seminal is a work week.

1 day 9 hrs

a work schedule exceeding 48 hours

This is how I would translate it.
