English term

refers

English to Dutch Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Interview tape:

SAUNDERS Interview Tape AB/01/03/06/2013, ROTI AB/01/06/06/2013 refers consisting of 10 pages

What does "refers" in this context mean? I am pretty sure it is an abbreviation.

Thanks!

Kitty Brussaard Oct 20, 2015:
@Barend Perhaps the last bit of this sentence read at some point (...) refers to a transcript consisting of 10 pages. Who knows? While writing this, I see that Remy has already cracked this one so to speak. So I'll leave it at this.
Remy van Tol (asker) Oct 20, 2015:
In the end there was little time, so I applied Barend's idea of deleting the word with a little note to the client. Thanks all!
Barend van Zadelhoff Oct 20, 2015:
'references' seems highly unlikely to me, Kitty.

Record of Taped Interview (references) consisting of 10 pages

Record of Taped Interview consisting of 10 pages
Kitty Brussaard Oct 20, 2015:
Ask your client As this doesn't seem to make any sense, I think the safest approach would be to ask your client whether this is indeed redundant text which should have been deleted (as suggested by Barend) or a typo for 'references' or even something else (as suggested by Nicole). There's no point in guessing really.
Barend van Zadelhoff Oct 20, 2015:
autopropagation :-)
Remy van Tol (asker) Oct 20, 2015:
Barend: I was thinking the same, but there are about 10 entries similar to the phrase above and all containing that word, so that would be a very consisted error, though not unlikely.

I think you should delete 'refers'.

I assume it's a mistake/error.
They forgot to delete it when they realised they needed 'consisting'.
Remy van Tol (asker) Oct 20, 2015:
Only that ROTI the acronym is of Record of Taped Interview.
Nicole Coesel Oct 20, 2015:
Possibly 'references' Would you happen to have any more context, Remy?
