HERBET Abel Sep 6, 2015:
a dead ringer for somebody/something

someone or something that looks exactly like someone or something else Our waiter was a dead ringer for Humphrey Bogart. My silver-blue ’64 Buick was a dead ringer for the one Sinatra drove in that movie.

valeur sûre

I'm wondering if that could not be a lapsus by the author of the source text. "Dead ringer", as Abel points out, means "lookalike", "copy":

I am not aware of any other meaning, and even the Urban Dictionary doesn't give one. But I have found the source text on the net, and I can't see any way that calling the company a "lookalike" would make sense:

I am wondering if the author didn't mean "dead cert", which like "dead ringer" originates in the horse racing/betting world, and means a "sure thing", something on you can bet with a near-certainty of winning.
In that case, I would translate it as: "valeur sûre"
Note from asker:
I'd also go for it, that's why I was asking. Thank you.

agree katsy : I have been looking at the source text too and agree with your doubts. Certainly the meaning would appear to be that this company is most definitely on the road to success.

disagree Marcombes (X) : it is neither the idea of betting on the right horse nor of looking alike

I specifically said it did not mean looking alike. As for the other, you have given no reference, and I am yet to be convinced.
