Potential Hy’s Law (PHL)
Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) or Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) ≥ 3x Upper Limit of Normal (ULN) and Total Bilirubin (TBL) ≥ 2xULN at any point during the study irrespective of an increase in Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP).

Hy’s Law (HL)
AST or ALT ≥ 3x ULN and TBL ≥ 2xULN, where no other reason, other than the investigational drug, can be found to explain the combination of increases, eg, elevated ALP indicating cholestasis, viral hepatitis, another drug.

For PHL and HL the elevation in transaminases must precede or be coincident with (i.e. on the same day) the elevation in TBL, but there is no specified timeframe within which the elevations in transaminases and TBL must occur.
