Japanese term
キバ
Japanese to English

Automotive / Cars & Trucks
This appears to be a part of a door. The only two things I suspect are 牙 as in fang (but I doubt one would translate it as such) or that this is short for "Key..." something.

door latch?
Could this be the latch of your car door's locking mechanism?
by this term I only mean the metal part that yields when pressed against the D ring fixed on the door frame, triggering it to swing into a new position that keeps the door securely shut, not necessarily locked.
Something like this? (see link)

Nicholas can you confirm which kana is used on your original? (in small point size, the screen display can not image the P phoneme with anything better than a B 濁り.
But with buzz terms of the car industry, anything is possible, beginning with キバ for キーバー. )
