French term

pour qui ça roule toujours

French to English Other Idioms / Maxims / Sayings pun
I'm looking for an equivalent cycling-related pun here.

Et si c’était à ce détail-là qu’on reconnaissait les vrais fous du vélo? Les vrais de vrais. Ceux qui vivent et respirent le vélo et pour qui ça roule toujours.

Currently have "still ride tall in the saddle" but ideally I'd like something wheel-related as text is about furniture that's been made out of old bike parts, mainly wheels and wheel rims (www.bikefurniture.com). Perhaps "still on a roll"?

@ writeaway With this kind of creative translation, it's not essential to find a translation that corresponds exactly to the original - as long as you get the flavour. For instance, the title of this particular piece is 'Mobilier déjanté' - good luck finding something that says the same in English!

Good thing I looked here! Elizabeth's suggesions were what I was considering. I like freewheeling (the first thing that came to mind) but was likewise put off by the irresponsibility bit.... does it matter?! And I was considering "in top gear".....
Elizabeth Tamblin Mar 30, 2015:
I was thinking of a variation on "freewheeling" or "freewheelers" - with implications of carefreeness, but possibly also irresponsibility (not so good). Or what about "always in the right gear" or "always have a smooth ride"?

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Lots of good suggestions, from Proud Mary/Coldplay's 'keep on turning' idea to spinning wheels of fortune, but the simplest ideas are often the best. Yee-ha!"

who keep the wheels turning

One of many possible solutions.

disagree writeaway : the French doesn't say that they keep the wheels turning.

disagree AllegroTrans : "pour qui" does not mean "who"

for whom the wheels (always) keep on turning

Perhaps something along these lines... evoking, among other things, an old CCR song (Proud Mary). Also conveys the idea that, although the bicycles have been converted into furniture, they do somehow "keep on turning" in their new life...

for whom the wheel always spins

Cyclists go for a spin; the wheel of fortune spins etc.
Peer comment(s):

agree AllegroTrans : or for whom the wheels always spin

Thanks AT. That would be better for cycling, would work for roulette wheels, but would rule out the wheel of fortune.

left with a wheel-of-a-deal

Hello,

My try...

You can have wheels on furniture, reminding you of being on your bike.

I hope this helps.
