German term

den Dreh schnell raus haben

German to English Marketing Cooking / Culinary publicity material for can opener
This is from a play on words which won't work in English without tweaking. The USP is that the can opener is based on a ratchet system with no wing screw device to turn. The publicity material ends in the sentence: So viel steht schon mal fest: Ohne zu drehen, haben wir damit den Dreh ganz schnell raus. Without repeating "turn" it's going to fall flat. I look forward to your ideas. Many thanks in advance.

Discussion

Lancashireman Jan 31, 2015:
This tin opener is an eye opener Perfect for a bit of DIY glaucoma surgery. Also reminiscent of Un Chien Andalou (Buñuel).
Yorkshireman Jan 31, 2015:
How about... Germans love "Inszenierungen"

"The new star of the opening act." or "The star of the opening scene"

A new opening chapter.

The eye-opener among tin openers.

The eye-opening tin opener.

Like it Yorkshireman but don't think client will! I've had trouble getting the verb "prepping" past them before (and they make/sell upmarket cookware), they claimed never to have heard it.
Yorkshireman Jan 30, 2015:
Anyone for puns? "Don't twist it - ratch-it!!

Andrew, I'm a breakfast-in-a-tin man myself.

Unfortunately, I haven't been supplied with a photograph of the gadget... I am going to ask for one just to be sure. Thanks for all your ideas, some good ones there.

I assume the aspect of Ohne zu drehen has already been fully explored in the text.

...there's no twist to this tale!

As it's for the final sentence in the text could you play with this idiom somehow?

I don't know what you've got previously but would something along these lines work?
"And that's all there is to it - there's no twist to this tale!"

...a turn for the better

Or

Turn to your advantage

Not quite sure how you're translating the rest of it, but these might work?

there's a whole new spin (on cans).

(Without turning), there's a whole new spin (on cans).

More choices is better, yes?

Getting a grip on it without having to turn, turn, turn.....

It rhymes and it relays the message that the customer doesn't have to turn/twist the can opener.
And it's funny - if I may say so.
There's also a song about turn, turn, turn.

a simple twist of the wrist

With no turning (or tossing), just a quick twist of the wrist is all it takes.
Example sentence:

"Great grandma was the envy of all of the ladies in town....with a simple twist of the wrist..."

No need to get your panties (fingers) in a twist on this one.

You'll get the hang (of it) in no time.

I wish. Actually, in the US they use this regardless of gender..
