Susan Welsh Dec 27, 2014:
There is no English equivalent IMHO. See http://www.hbs.edu/coursecatalog/
The phraseology in your course title is quintessentially Russian. No course in an American university would have a title remotely resembling it. So you can translate it in whatever pared-down version you prefer (i.e., take out as many words as possible; Yuri's suggestion would work).

Having read through the structure of the curriculum, I suspect it is referring to modular instruction. I was taught this way in high school in the 70's. On Amazon there are many books on the topic and much to be found online. Anita Woolfolk

Содержание этой темы есть здесь: https://online.muiv.ru/media/lib/books/analiz-finansovoj-otc...

Я ищу английский эквивалент, а не дословный перевод.

Спасибо

Theoretical foundations and methods of financial statement analysis

Susan said it, and I am sure you know it yourself: this is a purely Russian construct. You have two choices: resort to awkward verbatim Runglish or tweak it to resemble something like what I have suggested above. The funny thing is that neither is necessarily better. It all depends on the prospective target audience and the purpose of the document you are translating. The only apparent benefit of my proposed option is that it will indeed be easily understood by the natives.
Note from asker:
Thanks, Misha. I'm really tempted to give you the points, since you received a disagreement unfairly. But Yuri's answer is just as helpful. Cheers

management, formats, problems, and research in modular instruction. A module is defined as a self-contained, independent unit of a planned. series of learning activities designed to help the student accomplish. certain well-defined objectives.
Note from asker:
I really appreciate your effort, Donald, but modular instruction is only one possible organizational-methodological system. There may be many other organizational-methodological systems. I need this exact general term.
Peer comment(s):

disagree The Misha : This may or may not describe the underlying teaching method, but this is definitely NOT a translation of the actual phrase.

Модульное обучение — способ организации учебного процесса на основе блочно-модульного представления учебной информации.
Сущность модульного обучения состоит в том, что содержание обучения структурируется в автономные организационно-методические блоки — модули, содержание и объём которых могут варьировать в зависимости от дидактических целей, профильной и уровневой дифференциации обучающихся, желаний обучающихся по выбору индивидуальной траектории движения по учебному курсу. Модули могут быть обязательными и элективными.

Thanks, Donald! This looks like machine translation to me. Can clearly see the Russian text behind it. I'd prefer something that is used in Anglo-Saxon educational system for the same, or at least something understandable by a common English reader.
