O contrato pode admitir...

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Insurance
This part is under the Claims Clause of an insurance contract; here is the text in question:

"O contrato de seguro pode admitir para fins de indenização, mediante acordo entre as partes,..."

I mean really, contracts can "admit"? I think not, but this is the rest of the text that follows:

"... as hipótese de pagamento em dinheiro, reposição or reparo da coisa. No impossibilidade de reposição da coisa, a época da liquidação devida será paga em dinheiro."

So here goes my try:

"Under this insurance contract, cash payments are acceptable, after agreement between the parties thereof, as a form of indemnity for repair or replacement of a secured item. If said item deemed irreplaceable, the compensation shall be payable in the form of cash on the due date."

Second thoughts on this one?

although all these answers are right, I think it's better to call it an insurance policy rather than a contract.
mediante acordo entre as partes = if the parties so agree, by (mutual) agreement between the parties...

The insurance contract allows [the parties to agree to...]

"O contrato de seguro pode admitir para fins de indenização, mediante acordo entre as partes, as hipótese de pagamento em dinheiro, reposição or reparo da coisa."

The insurance contract allows the parties to agree to indemity by way of payment in cash, replacement or repair of the item.

In the simplest language possible, that is what it means. Cheers!

The contract allows for / permits

Seth, the text is beautifully vague, I think you should leave it so. Also, 'mediante' - surely by means of, or through? Your 'after' has a finality/past tense connotation that I don't perceive.

...the agreement/contract may provide for...

Admitir aqui poderá ser sinónimo de "prever". Prefiro "agreement" a "contract", mas como logo adiante aparece "by mutual agreement of the parties" ou "by mutual agreement between the parties"

Assim: For compensation purposes, and by mutual agreement of/between the parties, the insurance agreement/contract may provide for...
Example sentence:

An Agreement may provide for: The prohibition, restriction or regulation of the use or development of the land.

An operating agreement may provide for classes or groups of members or managers associated with a series having such relative rights, powers,
