French term

édition

French to English Bus/Financial Cosmetics, Beauty Perfume
This is from a desciption of the graphic style guide of a renowned perfume manufacturer.

The context is:
"Ce logo est utilisé pour l’édition, les packagings secondaires et la promotion."
"Ce logo est utilisé pour l’édition des Spas XXX"
"Ce logo est utilisé pour l’édition et le merchandising."

To my mind it could mean writing/drafting publicity material or creating packaging designs, but the second of the three usages suggests that it could mean editions of certain perfumes.

As opposed to (purely) 'graphic' or 'visual' content.

I'm not sure what you mean by your reference to perfumes, but I don't think that's the meaning.

Thanks Phil, I think you're right, it was staring me in the face
Thanks for your help, Phil. I was going to use your answer but changed my mind at the last minute in favour of "written content", which seems a safer option.

neutral nweatherdon : I think they may be referring to editing.

neutral Helen Shiner : On the face of it, yes, but I'm wondering whether they might be using it rather pretentiously to mean primary packaging (i.e. on the bottles of perfume), somewhat in the sense of limited edition. No time to research, I'm just putting this here as an idea.
