French term

en pointant

Non-PRO French to English Other Journalism illegal timber
I'm not sure of the best way of translating 'en pointant' in the following context:

Perhaps 'exposing' might be a possibility?

One French dictionary gives the following definitions:

http://www.larousse.fr/dictionnaires/francais/pointer/62016

Many thanks in advance!

if you look at the article and image it's almost as though they mean "by tagging..."

There are many ways of translating this and it is largely a matter of your client's and your own personal style which you choose. What you need to get across is that this is just one example of many possible ones they could have chosen, but which they selected as particularly important or typical in order to promote awareness of the issue.

I'd spell it out like this.

montré et en pointant could be considered pretty much the same thing - pleonasm?
Peer comment(s):

neutral B D Finch : "Comme l’a encore montré" refers back to "le bois illégal continue à arriver impunément en Europe" - so not a pleonasm. Though they did indeed organise protest action, as shown if you follow the ST hyperlink, that is not what is written here.
