梦露

Chinese to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature Fiction novel
The main character can smell the perfume on Little Red, his crush. Liu Qing is a gossip who has all the dirt on Little Red. I mostly understand the sentence, but I don't understand why 梦 and 露 would be next to each other.

我闻见小红的香水味道,我是老土,我洗脸都用灯塔肥皂,我不知道那种香水的名字。后来,柳青告诉我,小红用的是香奈尔的No.5,梦露晚上睡觉,只穿No.5。

Monroe

It refers to Marilyn Monroe here. There was rumour that she wore nothing else but only this perfume in bed.
Peer comment(s):

agree David Lin : It's only a rumour but a sensual one. :)

Marilyn Monroe

玛丽莲·梦露 is the Chinese name for American actor Marilyn Monroe.

I believe 梦露here refers to Marilyn Monroe. I think the author is trying to say, 小红 is trying to copy Marilyn Monroe's taste in perfume selection.

Monroe

Here "梦露" is the transliteration for the name "Monroe", the full name being "玛丽莲·梦露" for "Marilyn Monroe". We often use the surname only instead of the full name, such as "布什" for "George W Bush".

"梦露" literally means "dream" and "dew", but it is just indicating Marilyn Monroe here; the characters themselves don't have another connection with the text.
