opbouw

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
the opposite of inbouw/built-in... opbouw kast etc.
built-on would be nice, but it doesn't exist... free-standing doesn't work, attached doesn't quite do it, I can't find anything... any ideas?

In that case, I think you should ask the client Richard. Cabinets are rarely referred to as "surface mounted". I've fitted enough over the last few decades.

@Richard - why use a cabinet as a context example when you are referring to a device? In the context of manometers, "surface mounted" would be correct, but not for cabinets.

Heb je wat meer context, Richard?

Deze term kwam ik tegen op Lingee. Kan me er iets bij voorstellen (hoewel de rest van de vertaling op zijn zachtst gezegd nogal krakkemikkig is). Verder dacht ik zelf meteen aan 'stand-alone' en aan 'installation' (ook van die laatste staat een voorbeeld in Lingee. Lingee is overigens in het geheel geen autoriteit op welk gebied dan ook, het is een zoekmachine van willekeurige voorbeeldzinnen. Je zou de remko.de website verder kunnen bekijken, waar onderstaand voorbeeld vandaan komt.
