joint life second death policy.

In the Netherlands, a life insurance policy can cover two lives. It will pay out when the first death occurs, and then it will cease.
If you want to be sure that there will be payment in both cases, you will have two take out two separate policies. This would be to ensure sufficient money for the children in the event both parents would die.
Apparently, in the USA there are products which will insure two lives with payment at consecutive deaths. I guess it will be for a determined period, and not 'for as long as you live' since both lives will end eventually.
