Es geht um die Entscheidung zu einem Scheidungsfall des Supreme Court of the State of New York. Der Satz lautet:
"The wife has filed an Order to Show Cause (Motion Sequence #2), seeking an order of this courd finding the husband in contempt and punishing him for his wilful failure to comply with the term of the Post Nuptial Agreement and the Judgement."
In Dietl/Lorenz finde ich unter "order (2.), order to show cause: gerichtliche Verfügung, Einwendungen gegen eine beabsichtigte Maßnahme des Gerichts vorzubringen".
Ich verstehe dies im Zusammenhang mit meinem obigen zu übersetzenden Satz nicht, da ich nicht verstehe, wie eine Prozesspartei eine solche gerichtliche Verfügung einreichen kann.

Gerichtliche Anordnung, dass der Antragsgegner seine Einwendungen schon vorab mitzuteilen hat, auch "Aufforderung, sich zu den erhobenen Vorwürfen zu äußern"; so S. 323 links in:
