ok, for pedantic's sake, you may add "in the political fold", but that's strictly speaking unnecessary. Besides the question is about a sensible thing to do. Returning to the fold is an extra suggestion (and, I think, a very good one) that you are by no means required to follow ;)))

: Полностью не согласна с предложенным вариантом - он меняет смысл. Говорить о returning to the fold можно было бы, если бы речь шла, например, о присоединении к России. Здесь смысл другой: просто выжать из ситуации максимум, ничего личного, чистый бизнес.
