Dear Colleagues,

I need some suggestions with an appropriate term in PT - BR for the term above.

'For an intimate dining experience, sip on champagne as your waiter serves you breakfast, complete with warm pastries, fresh fruit,...

Some suggestions: quentinhas, quentes...'quentinhas' sounded like 'marmitas' which is no way sophisticated.

Creio que, no caso, não soaria como marmita.

Folhados, a meu ver, é um termo mais sofisticado (de massas folhadas) que pastéis, ou coisa parecida.

salgados/salgadinhos quentinhos

ou quitutes quentinhos, pois quitutes não são necessariamente salgados e doces são muito servidos no desjejum

agree MBins : Acho "quitutes quentinhos" mais apropriado dentro do contexto. Quitute é mais refinado portanto combina melhor com champagne.

pastelaria doce, servida quente

This is an awkward translation indeed. "Folhados" are only a type of pastry: puff pastry. "Massas," on the other hand, is too specfic, usually referring only to the type of pasta used, not to sweet pastries.

If you want to talk about all types of pastry, then the word to be used is "pastelaria," meaning "many pieces of pastry grouped together." The problem is that this definition, according to my research, seems only to exist on European Portuguese, and "pastelaria" in Brazil usually refers to a pastel shop.

If you don't mind "borrowing" a word from European Portuguese, I'd say "pastelaria" is the most precise translation. I'm not sure if we have something perfectly equivalent in Brazilian Portuguese.
